Lars Lehmann was born in 1972 in Bad Harzburg, Germany. He got his first bass guitar at age 16. From 1992 until 2000 he studied music (electric bass and vocals) in Hildesheim. And in 1996 he graduated in Popular Music from Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg.
Since 1996, he has been editor-in-chief of Bass Professor magazine, which is sold in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Since 2005, Lars has been a guest electric bass lecturer at the Academy of Contemporary Music in London, UK. He also teaches at Bundesakademie für kulturelle Bildung in Wolfenbüttel, and since 2008 he’s been teaching bass at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover. He also gives workshops all across Germany. In 2007, Lars published his first instructional bass book "SLAP-ATTACK," available exclusively through his website.
Lars is very active as a studio and live electric and double bass freelancer, working with Konstantin Wecker, Simon Phillips, Marla Glen, Cultured Pearls, Clyde Stubblefield (James Brown, Bootsy Collins, John Scofield, Otis Redding), Jens Eckhoff (Wir sind Helden), Steve Mann (Michael Schenker Group, The Sweet), J.J. Marsh (Glen Hughes Band), Helle Hansen (DK), Maricel, Phil Barnes, Ossi Pfeiffer (Osmator), DJ Airknee (Jazzkantine), Redd (SCO), Colorblind (DK), Audrey (F), DJ Steven Caretti, and many others.
He has performed live with a huge list of artists including: Uli Jon Roth, Mousse T., Vinnie Moore, Konstantin Wecker, Roachford, Bobby Byrd, Pee Wee Ellis, Sidney Youngblood, Randy Hansen, Gus G.
