ABOUT

Born on 1993, Beatrice Valente is an Italian double bass player, bass player and singer.

She grew up in a musicians family, in a house full of dreams and music. Her father Gerardo is a saxophone player and her mother Patrizia is a singer. They both transferred her love, passion and dedication to arts, especially music.

Beatrice started playing piano and singing at the age of 6 followed by her mother, and  she participated to many contests for pianists and singers at the time and she always placed in the first positions. She started studying opera with the teacher Anna Giulia Foglia.
After several years she quit piano study to focus on something better representing herself. At the age of 14 she listened to a Marcus Miller record and these new sounds pushed her to start playing  electric bass.

In 2008 she started studying at the conservatory in Benevento in the double bass class, passing the admission test with the maximum grade. Since then she studied with M° Rino Zurzolo and nowadays she is studying with M° Giuseppe Rutigliano and M° Aldo Vigorito.
In 2010 she founded her first trio with Sergio Valente on piano and Ciro Iovine on drums, so they started playing some local clubs until they performed at the Belvàrosi Festival in Budapest.
In 2012 she graduated in Music Theory and Solfeggio followed by M° Francesco Ivan Ciampa, and in 2014 she graduated in classical double bass and she took Complementary Harmony classes with M° Renato Gaudiello at the Benevento conservatory, passing the final test with a high grade. In the same year she won the “Bruno Rotoli” jazz music award and she joined the show “Cercando Segnali d’Amore nell’Universo” playing double bass and singing with Marco Zurzolo band.
From 2014 to 2016 Beatrice worked as a double bass player with the “Orchestra Acustica del Pausilypon” recording as a musician and singer on the orchestra first album. She also plays bass in the band Batà Ngoma” and she recorded the album “Don’t Stress” with the band in December 2017.

She taught double bass and singing at the Pontano Institute in Naples and she’s been M° Rino Zurzolo assistant at the Nicola Sala conservatory in Benevento.

On 2017 she played double bass in the “Concerto dell’Epifania” TV orchestra with M° Renato Serio and she also toured as bass player, double bass player and singer with Francesco Cicchella on his tour “Millevoci”.

Today Beatrice is teaching, studying and she has an intense activity with her new project “Play What You Feel”. She’s also working as a songwriter on her own original project.

“With my MINI CMD 121 P it has been love at first sight.”—says Beatrice—“Its convenience, lightweight and efficacy are perfect for a woman who decided to play a pretty bulky instrument as the double bass. It sounds great and it’s so versatile and that lets me use it with both electric bass and double bass on any music genre.”
